Since starting MeganFaithMakes, I have endeavoured to run my business as sustainably and eco-friendly as possible. I do this in a few different ways.

Firstly, I mainly use animal and natural fibres, such as wool, bamboo and cotton. This is because these fibres can biodegrade, unlike manmade fibres. Wool, and other animal fibres also have self-cleaning properties, meaning anything made with these fibres won’t need to be washed unless heavily soiled. Good for the environment and also a lot easier to look after!

Secondly, I try to buy second hand yarn whenever possible. For my made to order items this isn’t always as the case as I need specific amounts, colours etc. But I’m always on the lookout on Ebay, FaceBook marketplace and charity shops for yarn to make my one off pieces with.

Thirdly, I save all of my ends (no matter how small) and use them for scrap projects. My favourite way of using them up is making landscape sweaters, a few are pictured below.

And lastly I use recyclable packaging when I send off orders! Although I always recommend saving the tissue paper and mailing bag to re-use before recycling, when possible.
